Speeding is one of the leading causes of fatalities and serious injuries on Queensland roads, with 74 deaths and thousands of injuries were recorded in 2021.
According to Transport and Main Roads director states research has confirmed there is a clear link between camera enforcement and reduction in speed related accidents.
New speed camera technology is being deployed across Queensland, targeting school zones and roadworks.
Since July 1st penalties for speeding have increased and motorist have been warned, fines of $287 for up to 10 km over and $431 between 11- 20km.
The roll out of this new technology, is set to deploy in September.
