Train commuters on the Ipswich, Rosewood and Springfield train lines can now use; Visa, Mastercard, American Express and smart devices, as the state government progressing to its third smart ticketing trial.
The new ticketing system was announced in June 2018, with $371 million committed to delivering the project statewide. The first trials began for the Gold Coast light rail and the Ferny Grove line, which saw a highly successful rate of use with transport commuters.
While this technology is still in trial, customers commuting beyond station trials will need to continue using the Go Card or purchase a paper ticket.
Reported by the Brisbane Times, the government was on track to have the system in place statewide by 2023.
