There aren’t a lot of similarities between myself and Mr Reynolds. He’s tall, handsome, successful and I’m… well none of those things BUT what we do have in common is this: a love of Gin. When those sweet botanicals hit my lips I feel like a goddamn movie star and this World Gin Day I want you to as well.
May I present, the four best recipes to help you enjoy World Gin Day (11th June).
Negroni
Ingredients:
30ml Aviation Gin
30ml Sweet vermouth
30ml Campari
Orange twist
Cubed ice
Rocks glass
Method:
1. Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass over ice
2. Strain into a tumbler filled with ice
3. Garnish with an orange twist and serve
Dry Martini
Ingredients:
45ml Aviation Gin
15ml Dry vermouth
Dash orange bitters
Lemon twist or olive
Ice
Coupette
Method:
1. Add all ingredients, except the garnish, to a mixing glass full of ice and stir
2. Strain into a coupette
3. Garnish with either a lemon twist or olive
American G&T
Ingredients:
30ml Aviation Gin
100ml Tonic water (my favourite is ‘Fever-Tree’)
Lime wheel & lemon wheel
Cubed ice
Highball
Method:
1. Place a lemon wheel down the bottom of a highball glass
2. Pour in ingredients, then fill the glass with ice
3. Top up with tonic water if needed
4. Garnish with lime wheel
The Aviation
Ingredients:
45ml Aviation Gin
15ml Maraschino liqueur
30ml Lemon juice
5ml Crème de Yvette
Cherry
Ice
Coupette
Method:
1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake hard
2. Double strain into a coupette
3. Garnish with a cherry at the bottom of the glass
