Great Scott! A SpaceX-backed startup’s electric flying car has become the first-ever to be approved for flights tests, and is available for pre-order (if you have a cool $300,000 to spare).

According to a report by Business Insider, the fully electric flying car developed by Alef Aeronautics is able to take off vertically or horizontally, and can carry up to two people.

It’s also expected to have a road range of 320kms and a flying range of 175kms.

The dream of a whole host of sci-fi novels and films, it’s no surprise that 440 people have already laid down their deposit.

CEO Jim Dukhovny said that customers could expect to see their cars in the sky by 2025.
